The Fall of Ancient Babylon : Lesson Seven

• To understand the fall of Babylon of the New Testament we must go to the Old Testament to see how the old Babylon fell.It was given in prophecy to (Jeremiah 51:47),"therefore,the days, come,that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Baby-lon: and her whole land shall be confounded,and all slain shall fall in the midst of her."This is a two fold prophecy a past and future prophecy.Now let us see and understand how the old ancient Babylon fell.Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylon she had to fill up her cup of iniquity in order to bring about her fall.Her first act of iniquity(1)Found in(Dan.3:1-6)under the inspiration of Satan:Nebuchadnezzar set up an golden image for all the world to fall down and worship the golden image,and all who refuse to worship the golden image,would be thrown into the fiery furnace.Satan tried to get the world to turn from Jeho-vah God to himself,by violating the 2nd Commandment(Exodus 20:4)"Thou shalt not make any graven images.....Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them,nor serve them:for I the Lord thy God" (Jehovah).Her second act of iniquity(2)Found in(Dan.4:1-31) Nebuchadnezzar had a dream of a tree,God gave Daniel the interpretation of the dream.Daniel gave Nebuchadnezzar advice what he should do instead of doing what Daniel told him to do, he self-exalted himself(V-30)"the king spake and said,is not this great Babylon,that I have built for the house of the kingdom by my power,and for the honour of my majesty?" At that same time the judgment of Jehovah God was upon him,but Babylon didn't fall,she had not fulfill her cup of iniquity.Her third act of iniquity(3)Found in(Dan.5:1-31) "Belshazzar now king of Babylon commanded his servant to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem;that the king,and his princes,his wives,and his concubines,might drink therein."Those golden and silver vessels was consecrated and dedicated to be use in the worship of Jehovah God.By using them for common use,and pour Babylon wine in them,praised the gods of silver,and gold,of brass,iron,wood,and stone.Belshazzar king of Babylon have total profane against Jehovah God by making no different between the holy and the common,Babylon fulfill her cup of iniquities,and she fell as Jeremiah said she would.She was over thrown by the Medes and Persian. www.lakekennedy.com
