The Two Covenants
The Covenant is the Ten Commandments.
-
Covenant : An agreement between two or more persons to do or not do something specified.
-
The first covenant : The promise to keep it was made by the people of Israel. Exodus19:5 "If ye will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me above all people."
-
The promise of the people : Exodus19:8 "And all the people answered together, and said, all that the Lord hath spoken we will do." The promise that was made by the people to keep the covenant (Ten Commandments) and obey was ratified by the blood of a animal. Exodus 24:8"Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.
-
The second covenant : The promise was made by Jehovah God . Heb.8:10" For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people." And the covenant is ratified by the blood of Jesus Christ. Luke22:20" He took the cup in like manner after supper, saying this cup is the new covenant in My blood, even that which is poured out for you." The new covenant is the only true covenant that could pardon the sinner transgressions of sins, the blood of Jesus Christ. www.lakekennedy.com
